Why watch someone else vacation when you could actually go?
TikTok announced on Tuesday it is rolling out TikTok Go. A new feature. It turns passive scrolling into actual bookings. No switching apps. No opening a browser tab and hoping the link works. Just hotels. Tours. Attractions. Right there.
You find the content naturally. Maybe a video about a hidden bistro in Paris. Or a hiking trail that looks dangerous. You stop watching. You want to know more. The interface changes. Details pop up. Availability checks happen instantly. You book it. Done.
To pull this off, TikTok needed help. Big help.
They partnered with the usual travel heavyweights:
- Booking.com
- Expedia
- Viator
- GetYourGuide
- Tiqets
- Trip.com
Mark van der Linden, VP of Partnerships at Booking.com, called it the bridge between envy and action.
“Turn those ‘I wish I were there’ Moments into real stays.”
Fair enough. We spend hours drooling over content anyway. Why not spend money while we’re at it?
Adam Presser, CEO of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, frames it as connection. Inspiration meeting the businesses behind the lens. Millions discover where to eat. Where to stay. What to do. Now the friction is gone.
Sort of.
There is a catch, small but firm.
You have to be eighteen. No minors allowed. No teenagers planning their summer road trips via their favorite dance videos. If you are under eighteen, keep watching. Do not try to book.
It is a sleek loop. See. Want. Click. Leave.
